The present Lodge at Perisher consists of the original 1955 stonework and the ground
floor of the 1963 Lodge with the top floor (bedrooms, bathrooms and living/dining
area) completely rebuilt in 1997. The lease for Perisher has recently been re-negotiated
and is current to 2025. It contains five two-bed rooms and two single bedrooms to
house a total of 12 persons and it is organised on a totally self-help basis. The
Club does not supply food and Members must bring their own food etc. Bed linen,
tea towels, hand towels and bath mats are provided - bath towels are not provided.
The care and cleaning of the Lodge is the responsibility of the members at the end
of their stay and the Club does supply basic cleaning materials for the care of
the building. Changeovers between parties are affected on Saturday mornings and
outgoing parties are expected to leave the Lodge clean and secure for the incoming
party.
The Perisher Lodge is only accessible during the winter by over-snow transport and
members must make their own arrangements for the transport of themselves and their
luggage to the Lodge. There are various minor rules as to how the Lodge should be
used and protected and these are notified to members both by letter when bookings
are confirmed as well as by information within the Lodge. Because of the small size
and low cost structures of the Club, much of the maintenance is done by members
on a voluntary basis during the summer season and members in occupation are expected
to do necessary repairs and maintenance themselves, as far as possible, to keep
costs to a minimum.
The Lodge is a two-storey structure having a timber upper storey with balcony built
on a stone base. The ground floor contains ski room, workroom and tool area, laundry,
drying room, a games room with a billiard table and table tennis, the two single-bed
rooms and a bathroom. There is also an internal firewood store.
The upper storey contains five twin-bed rooms, three bathrooms, a kitchen with two
stove/ovens and a dining/living room with open fireplace. There is a large balcony
opening off the living room. There is a gas barbecue on the balcony.
The Lodge is situated on the side of a hill between the Pretty Valley Chairlift
and the Interceptor Chairlift and the North Perisher T-Bar. It is most easily accessible
from the Pretty Valley Chairlift or overland from the area above the Sundeck Hotel.
Access to Blue Cow and Guthega from the Lodge is via the Interceptor Chairlift and
access to the main Valley is via the Pretty Valley Chairlift.
The Lodge is in a particularly beautiful and rather secluded spot being away from
the main traffic of the Perisher Valley Complex, enjoying considerable privacy even
though access to the skiing is very close by.
